CNC Machined Hub Component for a Chemical Reactor Application
At Pacific Quartz, Inc., we CNC machined the hub component shown here from electrically fused quartz. As a critical component in a chemical reactor used to manufacture silicon beads, it required a robust design for long service life. After reviewing the customer drawing, we were able to make recommendations for improving the manufacturability as well as its form, fit, and function.
Primary operations consisted of pre-process edging and core drilling before CNC machining the workpiece. Once completed, the component had a diameter just under 6.0” and a smooth, 32 micro-inch surface finish. CMM inspection validated that we met the tight ±0.005” tolerance requirement.
By assisting this customer with design review, we were able to ensure high efficiency performance and high yields from this chemical reactor vessel. The quality of our craftsmanship makes us their sole supplier for this component.
